"PARITY=spec" is an OPEN communications parameter. The "PARITY" keyword and equal symbol (=) must be followed by one of three replacements for "spec": N (no parity checking), E (even parity) or O (odd parity). As of version 4.0, parity is not included in OPEN statements.
