When you first start BR, either you are beginning to write your own programs, or you are taking over programs written by someone else. If you're starting on your own, then the configuration process will be simple... choose which parts of BRconfig.sys will benefit you. Although you will probably find that you don't need many, some things, such as Attribute (Config), will be helpful.

Working with already existing programs, especially those designed to run on an older version of BR, may present other concerns. The goal of this article will help you understand what to do to upgrade to version 4.1.

Once you have acquired and installed the latest version, add the relevant Backward Compatibility options, or all of them if necessary, to suppress changes that you're not ready for yet. Then, as you revise your programs to take advantage of the new features, remove the suppressing option from your config file.
